* Looking forward to spending the retreat with you. It is one of the great highlights of my year, for sure.  ~ Alan Clements

A few features of the retreat:

• Progressive meditations (with no prior experience needed).

• Spiritual myths and distortions. Such as the myth of enlightenment and so on.

• Creative writing to compliment the meditations and group sessions.

• Freedom - what does it mean; uses and abuses. ie ("truth" as propaganda).

• An exploration of relationships, all kinds, as both liberating and at times limiting.

• Finding one's genuine voice - speaking, writing, creating, acting.

• The principles of World Dharma: The Art of Contextual Awareness (inner/outer unity).

• A foundation in experiential Buddhist psychology.

• What makes activism spiritual and global human rights sacred.

• The art of dharma reversal." ie. how "the ego" serves rather than harms.

• A foundation in the various forms of insight-mindfulness meditation.

• An examination of language, its use and abuse; social, political, spiritual & psychological.

• The role of humor and satire as a vehicle for personal, social and political transformation.

• A short talk by Alan each session with q & a.

• Free time for walking in the gardens.

Please note:

The retreat is unapologetically edgy, decidedly non-new age, and non-psychotherapeutic.

It is however, rooted firmly in respect for self and others, in thought, speech, and actions.

Thank you for respecting the guidelines of the retreat.

Alan Clements' books, "Instinct for Freedom: Finding Liberation Through Living" and "The Voice of Hope: Conversations with Aung San Suu Kyi," form the foundation of this unique retreat - a social / spiritual experiment designed to illuminate the inseparable link between our inner life and our engagement with the outer world through courage and insight.
